VISIT SUNDAY WORSHIP
What to expect on your first visit to Advent
SUNDAY WORSHIP BEGINS AT 9:30 AM
Come on in through the main doors.
When visiting a new congregation, it's helpful to have some background about what to expect. When you enter for the first time, you'll be greeted and be given a bulletin. The Bulletin has everything that you will need to know for the service (on almost all Sundays). But on special Sundays with an extra ceremony, like a baptism or special blessing, everything you need will be in the red hymnal under the chair in front of you. So you don't need to bring anything besides yourself to worship!
Note: Our worship services are recorded and posted online through our YouTube channel.
COMMUNION
Everyone is welcome at the table
In our congregation, we believe that we are not the gatekeepers for who gets to take communion and who does not. Everyone is welcome. No matter how old or how young you are, anyone who wishes to take communion is welcome.
At the point in the service shown as "Communion" in the bulletin, an usher will direct rows of people to go single file through to accept communion at the alter. The pastor will distribute the bread, but if you prefer, just let them know you prefer the gluten-free wafers. Then, the first attendant will be holding the wine in the larger chalice (goblet) and the second attendant will have non-alcoholic grape juice in the smaller chalice. Approach the wine/juice of your choice. Then, you may return to your seat. Communion hymns are sung throughout the time that people receive communion.
