History of ALC
Advent Lutheran Church began as a mission congregation in the summer of 2005. The North/West Lower Michigan Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) called Pastor Justin Grimm to begin this ministry in the Lake Ann area. Initial neighborhood canvassing, prayer, and faith-filled gatherings gave way to the first worship service on December 11th 2005. The service took place in the historic Almira Township Hall and 102 people were in attendance. Worship services continued in the township hall until November of 2006.
Upon renovation of the local fire garage, Advent called this humble space home, and it was quickly necessary to offer two worship services as attendance grew. Advent Lutheran Church organized officially as an ELCA congregation in May 2007. On December 24th 2013, Advent was blessed to move into a beautiful new building two miles north of the prior location. Advent Lutheran Church is a growing and vibrant faith community where all are encouraged to participate in worship, serve in ministries, and grow in faith.
